Rave Ganji/Rava Congee/Semolina Porridge

'Ganji/Conjee is not something which needs to be blogged'- I thought! coz everyone knows it! But, my assumption was proved wrong when a friend of mine who did not know this was delighted with the recipe and started on it. She was advised liquid diet and was sick of soups. After this incident I changed my decision and here I am blogging it for the benefit of people who do not know it.

A very good liquid diet advised by elders at home after child birth. You can also drink it when you are down with fever or any other condition where milk is not refrained from your diet.

All you need is

Rave/Rava/Semolina : 2 tbsp (roasted till it turns light brown)
Haalu/Milk: 200ml2
Sakkare/Sugar: as suitable
Elakki Pudi/Cardamom powder : a pinch
Tuppa/Ghee: 1/2 tsp

Bring milk to boil and add Rava/Semolina. Let rava cook in milk for 1 min. Add sugar and mix. Switch off the stove and cardamom powder. Add 1/2 tsp ghee. Cover and keep it aside. Consume porridge when it is warm.

when I saw ganji I thought it would be savory....hmm it is sweeter version of ganji..looks like almost payasam in more liquid form...nice way to savor it..

Rava kanji, my favourite,I would like to write a few things about this - I make this when my kids are down with temprature, as it is easy on the stomach and very filling and as it is hot it makes you feel good, Amma used to prepare this everyday in the morning for 11 days after the delivery of the baby, as I was not allowed to eat anything spicy, variety of tiffin,I think because we have a sensitive tummy and body at that time, I used to love it,and sometimes during the 3 months after the delivery (Baananthana) when she would have shortage of time to prepare breakfast for me. I had to drink atleast two glass of it. your ganji brought back all the memories, sorry for this lengthy comment
